To understand who Jesus is, what He did for us, and how He changed
the course of humanity forever, we must understand the complete
plan of salvation. Please understand, the plan of God is so intrically
complex and far reaching a person could spend a lifetime studying
nothing else and still never get the full picture. Here we have
simply provided a brief overview so that those with no knowledge
of who Jesus is can hopefully begin their journey to understanding.
When the earth was created, man was created to worship
God and rule over the earth. The earth had been in existence for
many years and lucifer had been ruler of this world. Lucifer rebelled
against God and so God cast him out of his place and renamed him
satan (the fallen one). Then God created man who took over satan's
place of dominion over the earth. The first humans of this new
order were Adam and Eve. Satan tempted Adam and Eve and pursuaded
them to disobey God which brought sin into humanity. That sin
separated us from God since He is holy and without sin. Man was
seperated from God and would never be able to be with Him again
unless the bridge was gapped in some way. This is where Jesus
came in.
In order for man to be reconciled to God, a perfect
human free from sin who had conquered this world by avoiding the
temptations and trials of life had to give himself as a sacrifice
to God. Since no man is perfect and we are all born into sin,
this seemed like an impossible feat to accomplish. Jesus is God's
son and was living in heaven. Jesus loved us so much that He came
to earth to be that perfect sacrifice that would give man a chance
to access heaven once again. Jesus could come as the perfect man,
free from sin, because His father was God and not a direct blood
relative of Adam and Eve and therefore was not born into sin.
Jesus would still have to face the trials and temptations of life
for He had the same choices as all of us do. Thankfully He chose
to stay true to God and resist everything satan threw at Him.
He remained sinless and perfect in the eyes of God.
Jesus lived on the earth as a man for 33 years and
was then crucified on a cross. The religious leaders of that day
were expecting a messiah but they weren't expecting Jesus. They
expected the Son of God to come as a mighty king of power. Instead,
Jesus came in a much more common form with a ministry of love.
Because of this and the fact that Jesus' teachings were exposing
all of their deceiving ways to the masses, the leaders did not
receive Him as the true messiah and condemned Him to death. They
beat Him and ripped His back open. They drove nails through his
hands and feet and hung Him on a wooden cross until He died, probably
the most horrible death that man has ever devised according to
many experts. Jesus hung on that cross as a perfect man who had
never sinned. Jesus had never done anything wrong and when He
gave himself on that cross, the gap between humans and God was
bridged.
By accepting what Jesus did for us, we now have
the opportunity to be reconciled to God and be rejoined with Him
someday. Jesus performed many miracles through the power of God
in His lifetime. After the crucifixion the people who crucified
Him thought they had rid themselves of this reformer. In a show
of His divinity and power, Jesus rose from the dead three days
later, completing the reconciliation to God and claiming His rightful
place as Lord of Lords. He then acsended into heaven and took
His place at the right hand of God the Father. He then sent the
comforter, the Holy Spirit which is the third party of the trinity
to dwell with man and empower him to be witnesses of these things
until Jesus comes back to take all of His followers home to heaven
to live as we were meant to live in the beginning, in perfect
harmony and happiness forever.
Through what Jesus did, we can be saved from spiritual
death and enjoy the paradise God wants us to have. All we have
to do is believe that Jesus is the son of God, accept His sacrifice
for us, make Him Lord of our life, and live for Him until the
end. This is God's perfect plan and it is available to everyone
who will accept it.
